Marla J. Goldman, age 59, of Alba, Michigan formerly of Ithaca, died June 10, 2013 at her home.
Marla was born October 26, 1953 to Auburn Vaughn and Mable Allegra (Vaughan) Smeltzer in St. Johns, Michigan. She married Darrell Goldman, December 17, 2006 in Ithaca, Michigan. Marla worked for the United States Post Office as a clerk in the Lansing area for more than 30 years.
Marla loved nature and animals - especially dogs. She also enjoyed fishing, mushrooming, collecting die cast cars, antiquing, and riding her Harley Davidson motorcycle. Marla was famous for her summertime pig roasts. She will be remembered as a wonderful friend.
Marla is survived by her husband, Darrell Goldman; children Lauri (Jim) Flegel of DeWitt and Heath (Paula) Gillis of St. Johns; step children Shannon Goldman of St. Johns and Tiffany (Jerry) Rodriguez of Ithaca; 13 grandchildren; brothers and sisters Doug (Linda) Smeltzer, Bruce (Sue) Smeltzer, Gary Smeltzer, Sharla Allen, Jill (Bob) Mikulka; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents Auburn and Mable Smeltzer, granddaughter Kayla Flegel, nephew Bruce Smeltzer, Jr., and her beloved boxer Louie.
Funeral services for Marla will be 11am, Friday, June 14, 2013 at the Alger Road Tabernacle with Cora Goldman officiating. Visitation will be held 2-4pm and 6-8pm, Thursday, June 13, at the Barden Funeral Home in Ithaca. Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society or donations of clothing or food may be brought to the funeral home for the God’s Outreach Mission in Maple Rapids.
