     Marie Amelia Armbrustmacher, age 87, of St. Johns, MI, passed away surrounded by the love of her family on Thursday, August 8, 2024, at Hazel I. Findlay Country Manor, St. Johns, Michigan.
     A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Fowler, MI, at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, with Rev. Fr. John Whitlock presiding, and Rev. Fr. Eric Weber concelebrating. Burial will take place at Most Holy Trinity Cemetery, Fowler, MI. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, from 2-8 P.M. with the family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes - Goerge Chapel, Fowler, MI. A Rosary will be prayed at 3:30 P.M. at the funeral home.
     Marie was born in St. Johns, Michigan on May 12, 1937, the daughter of Leonard Mathias and Marian Catherine (Smith) Thelen. She graduated from St. Mary's Catholic High School in Westphalia, Michigan with the Class of 1955. On April 12, 1958, Marie married Leon H. Armbrustmacher at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Westphalia, MI. As a devoted wife, Marie joined her husband in running the family farm. They were blessed with sixty-two years of marriage prior to his passing on October 5, 2020.
     Marie was a blessing to many people using her skills in quilting, sewing, and cake decorating. She was an active member of the Christian Mothers and a 4-H leader for many years. Marie enjoyed watching the Detroit Tigers, Michigan State University sports, and her grandchildren's sports.
     She is survived by three daughters: Debra (Lynn) Denovich of St. Johns, MI; Susan (Bruce III) Angell of Bath, MI; and Kelly (Chris) Neumann of Lansing, MI; four grandchildren: Jason (Amber) Denovich, Emily (fiancé Joe Mitrzyk) Angell, Alicia Angell, and Jack Neumann; three great- grandchildren: Owen, Axel, and Thea Denovich. She is also survived by five siblings: William (Joan) Thelen, Jeanette Pung, Ervin (Mary Jane) Thelen, Gary (Linda) Thelen, and Kathy (John) Eklund; sisters-in-law: Mary Ellen Thelen, and Ann Thelen; brothers-in-law: Dr. Vernon (Carolyn) Armbrustmacher, Clair (Karen) Armbrustmacher, and William (Mary) Armbrustmacher; and many nieces and nephews. Marie is preceded in death by her husband Leon, parents, in-laws Harold and Magdeline Armbrustmacher, brothers: Robert Thelen, Reynold Thelen, and Leon Thelen; brothers-in-law: Joe Pung, and Mark Armbrustmacher; and sister-in-law Janet (Jim) Whitney.
