Marian Eileen Schleder, age 94, of Ithaca, passed away September 10, 2013 at the Laurels of Carson City.
Marian was born on September 28, 1918, in Rosebush, Michigan, the daughter of Floyd and Lois Graham. She married George Schleder on December 20, 1943, and lived on the family farm near Ithaca until last May, when she moved to the Laurels.
She is survived by her daughters, Muriel Derby of Ithaca, Lois (Merritt) Bongard of Ludington, daughter-in-law, Elisa Schleder of Mt. Pleasant, brother, Dale (Bernice) Graham of Rosebush and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Ivan (Pauline) Graham, sister, Vivian (Albert) Campbell, son Martin Schleder, son-in-law, Phillip Derby, grandson, David Derby, and brother-in-law, Oscar (Beatrice) Schleder.
Marian enjoyed being a homemaker and will be fondly remembered for her sharing of love to others and for her famous cookies and coffee cake. She was the consummate Proverbs 31 woman. She was also Township Treasurer for 30 years and a member of the Beebe United Methodist Church.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2013, at 3:00 p.m. at the Ithaca United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends from 1-3 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Officiating the service are Rev. Merritt Bongard and Associate Pastor Matthew Derby. Interment will be at Pine Grove Cemetery near Ithaca. In Lieu of flowers, Beebe United Methodist Church, Ithaca United Methodist Church, Ithaca Food Pantry, Food with Friends, or a memorial of your choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Barden Funeral Home in Ithaca.
