Maria Luisa Kiss

June 26, 1935 — July 3, 2024

St. Louis

Maria Luisa “Lucy” (Bustamante) Kiss, lived a wonderful life before her passing on July 3, 2024, surrounded by her loving family in Charlevoix, MI.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at the Nativity of the Lord Parish, Mt. St. Joseph Catholic Church, 605 South Franklin Street, St. Louis, MI, at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, July 13, 2024, with Rev. Fr. Paul Worley presiding. Burial will take place at Oak Grove Cemetery, St. Louis, MI. Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2024, from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the mass at the church.
Lucy was born on June 26, 1935, in Esponzues, Spain. She resided on her family farm until 1962, when she left to visit her sister, Rosario, who worked and lived in Washington D.C. A month later, her life forever changed when she met the love of her life, Matt, at her friend Juanitias’ and Lajos’ wedding. Lucy then wrote home to announce she was getting married and stayed in America with Matt. They then moved to St. Louis, Michigan where they have called home since 1965, and raised their two daughters: Mercedes “Marcy” and Christina “Christi”.
Lucy was a wonderful homemaker; she ironed all of their clothes, even the bed sheets. Food was a constant flow at the Kiss household, and Lucy was always dressed to the nines. When her deeply loved children, Christi and Marcy, left for college, Lucy began to babysit for families to fill the void. You could find Lucy dancing at the Elks Club with her husband Matt or outside taking care of her flowers and garden. Lucy loved to travel to see family, and help her daughters with their children. Although she deeply missed her family back home in Spain, she spoke to them often. Lucy will forever be remembered as warmhearted, loving and humorous. She will greatly be missed by many but will forever be in our hearts.
Lucy is survived by her daughter Mercedes (Ed) Long of Marshall, MI; daughter Chris Good of Charlevoix, MI; her grandchildren: Morgan (Max) Holt of Canton, MA; Stacey (Trevor) Wyma of Grand Rapids, MI; Taryn (Jeremy) Luciani of Byron Center, MI; Carlee Long of Marshall, MI; Matthew Good of Cincinnati, OH; Jenna Good of Charlevoix, MI; Great-grandchildren: Millie and Maverick Holt; one surviving sister, Soledad. Lucy was preceded in death by her beloved husband Matt, her parents, three brothers, and three sisters.
