Marcella Ann Baese, age 90, of Elsie, MI, passed away Thursday, April 16, 2026.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Cyril's Catholic Church, Bannister, MI, at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, with Rev. Fr. Andrzej Boroch presiding. Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery, Elsie, MI.
Marcella was born in Ashland, Pennsylvania on June 25, 1935, the daughter of John Palembas and Stephanie (Corini) Marton. She married Gale Lee Baese, on November 20, 1954, at St. Cyril's Catholic Church in Bannister, MI. They were married for sixty-eight years, prior to his passing away on August 11, 2023.
Marcella loved to golf and was a very good bowler. She also loved to play card games with her family and video games with her grandchildren. Marcella was a fabulous cook and made many special dishes, like Polish and Czech foods. Marcella will be remembered as a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She and Gale were very proud of their home, it was important to her to keep her home wonderful for her family. Marcella was a cancer survivor of 15 years. She was a devoted catholic and a member of St. Cyril's Catholic Church in Bannister.
She is survived by her children: Dolores and Roger Sosebee of Chippewa Lake, MI; Juleann Beane of Ashley; MI; Jeffrey Baese and Doreen Besonen of Fort Worth, TX; Cheryl Quillico and Thomas Perkins of Canton, MI; ten grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; brother John "Terry" and Carol Palembas of Owosso, MI; sisters: Francie Marton of Tampa, FL and Mary Marton of Tampa, FL. Marcella was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Gale, her son-in-law David Bruce Beane, also her brother Paul Marton.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Online condolences can be sent to www.smithfamilyfuneralhomes.com. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie, Michigan.
