Mable Glover Johnston

Mable Glover Johnston, age 79 of Tucker, GA and Alma, MI, passed to eternal life on Sunday, August 16, 2015 in Georgia. Mable was born in Hamilton Township on April 1, 1936, the daughter of Charles and Emma (Tester-Wiltfong) Zimmerman.  She graduated from Ithaca High School in 1954. She married Melvin Glover of Breckenridge, MI on August 28, 1954.  Mable and Melvin were married 28 years until he passed away in 1982.  They raised their family on a farm in Lafayette Township.  Mable took great joy in raising her children, spending time with extended family and friends, and being involved at the Lafayette Presbyterian Church. Mable worked many years in the dental office of Dr. Jack Humm in Ithaca.  She really enjoyed working with Dr. Humm, his staff, and taking care of his patients. She married Robert Johnston on December 27, 1986 and moved to Tucker, GA.  Mable and Bob shared their time between Tucker and Alma for many years.  They created many memories together traveling both domestically and internationally. They enjoyed singing together and attending church in both locations. She is survived by her husband, Robert;  daughters, Melinda (Larry) Reinke in OH;  Marie Geitman of Alma;  sons, Michael (Kelly) Glover of St.Louis;  Marvin Glover of Ithaca;  step-children Sheryl Johnston in GA and James (Yvette) Johnston in TN;  nine grand-children and eight great-grandchildren;  and many more beloved family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents;  her first husband Melvin;  infant brothers Melvin and Lloyd Zimmerman;  half-brothers, Carl and William Wiltfong, and Henry Zimmerman;  half-sister Gladys Wilhelm; and sister-in-law and dear friend, Dorothy Wiltfong. Funeral services will be held Friday, August 21, 2015 at 11am at the Edgewood Church of God, Ithaca, MI.  Visitation will be Thursday, August 20, 2015 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at the Barden Funeral Home in Ithaca, MI. Memorial contributions may be made to the Gratiot County Commission on Aging.
