Lucile Cutler

Age 90 of Grand Rapids, formerly of St. Louis and Greenville, passed away Monday, September 15, 2003 at St. Marya�(TM)s Hospital in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Memorial services will be held Thursday, September 18, 2003 at 2:30 P.M. at Clark Retirement Community Chapel in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Pastor Jan Rogacki will officiate. There will also be visitation on Friday, September 19, 2003 from noon until 1:00 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Louis Chapel, with a Graveside service following at Oak Grove Cemetery in St. Louis, with Rev. Jim Burgess officiating.
Lucile was born on November 4, 1912 in Hartford, Connecticut, the daughter of Basil and Clara Shea Austin. She graduated from St. Margareta�(TM)s School in Waterbury, Connecticut with the Class of 1930. Lucy then earned her BA in Social Science from Connecticut College for Women in New London, Connecticut in 1934. On March 7, 1936 she married Solon "Mac" LeRoy Cutler at St. Johns Church in Hartford, Connecticut. He passed away February 26, 1994. She was a homemaker. Lucy will be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor, athleticism, and warm and accepting soul. She adored her family and loved every stage of her life. She loved the summers on the lake, whether it was growing up on Lake Champlain in Vermont or raising her family on Woodbeck Lake near Greenville, Michigan. She will be greatly missed by her family. She was a member of United Methodist Church in Pine Island, Florida. She resided in St. Louis, and wintered on Pine Island, Florida. They also enjoyed summers at Woodbeck Lake near Greenville. She has resided at Clark Retirement Community in Grand Rapids for the past 6 years.
She is survived by 2 daughters, Ann & Thomas Burgoon of Rockford, MI, and Carol & Richard Thompson of Interlochen, MI, 5 grandchildren, Eric & Laurie Burgoon of Grand Rapids, MI, Lora & Jose Vega of Grand Rapids, MI, Lisa & Jose Agusti of Champaign, IL, Brian Thompson of Aurora, CO, Steven & Stephanie Thompson of Highlands Ranch, CO, 5 great-grandhildren, Alexandra, Theodore, James, and Julia Burgoon, and Owen Thompson. She was predeceased by her parents, husband, son Thomas Austin Cutler in 1958, brother, Basil F. Austin, and sister, Janette Austin Steane.
Memorials may be made to the Theodore Austin Cutler Memorial Library or Camp Cutler Foundation. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Louis Chapel.
