Lowell Francis Anderson, age 81, of St. Louis, MI, passed away peacefully with his family by his side, on Thursday, March 28, 2024.
Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Louis, MI, on Friday, April 5, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. with his daughter, Amy Komperda, officiating. Luncheon will follow at Emerson Township Hall. Burial will take place at Pine Grove Cemetery at 2:00 P.M. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 4, 2024, from 2-8 P.M. with the family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.
Lowell was born in St. Louis, MI, on December 21, 1942, the son of Emory John and Erma Lavine (Hartenberg) Anderson. He graduated from St. Louis High School, with the class of 1961. He then served his country in the National Guard. On November 2, 1963, Lowell, married Martha Elizabeth Knapp at the First Baptist Church in Alma, MI. They have been blessed with sixty years of marriage and cherished raising their children and grandchildren.
His faith in God was the cornerstone for the direction of his life. He began attending the Beebe Church as an infant and was a lifetime member. Lowell loved serving the church and his church family.
Born a farmer, he began running the Anderson family farm at a young age. He had a aptitude for farming and worked tirelessly to elevate the agricultural community. Locally, he helped to bring organic farming to the area. Internationally, he continued to promote farming while serving on the Bean Commission. He was a mentor to many farmers and young men in the community throughout his lifetime helping them to succeed.
Lowell is survived by his wife Martha; four children: Amy (Kerry) Komperda of St. Louis, MI; Steven Anderson of St. Louis, MI; Eric Anderson of Toledo, OH; and Jennifer Young of Alma, MI; eight grandchildren: Janelle (Alex) Branch, Courtney (Mary) Kelly, Kyla Anderson, Nicholas Adams, Owen Young, Nate Komperda, Gabe Komperda, and Audrey Komperda; great-granddaughter Echo; and his nephew Dave Beuthin. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Mary Ellen (Richard) Powers, and brother-in-law Wayne Knapp.
