Lois Coston

Lois Marie Coston, age 84, of Alma, MI, passed away Monday, November 23, 2020, at Sparrow Carson Hospital, Carson City, MI.

A Memorial Graveside Service will be held at Emerson Township Cemetery, Gratiot County, MI, on Friday, December 4, 2020 at 1:00 P.M., with Pastor Michael Podeszwa officiating.

Lois was born in Texas on April 22, 1936, the daughter of Clell Sarber and Virginia (Wallace) Sarber. She graduated from St. Louis High School with the class of 1954.  Lois married Leo Carl Coston on July 9, 1954 at the St. Louis First Baptist Church.

Lois was a 4-H leader in Gratiot County and was a high school majorette advisor, traveling to many competitions. She enjoyed bowling, needle point, sewing and gardening. She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wheeler, where she was also a member of the choir.

She is survived by 3 children: Richard (Faith) Coston of Breckenridge, Sheri Franks of Mason, Shawn (Kevin) Harless of St. Johns; 9 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; brothers: Bob Sarber, Howard (Anna) Sarber and sister Sally Goerge.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Leo, granddaughter Karla Ann Coston, 2 brothers and 2 sisters.

Memorials may be made to the VFW National Home for Children, 3573 S. Waverly Rd, Eaton Rapids, MI 48827 or St. Jude Children's Hospital.  Online condolences can be made at www.smithfamilyfuneralhomes.com. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, Ithaca, MI.
