Leona Louise Quidort

        Leona Louise Quidort, age 101, of St. Louis, MI, passed away Friday, June 28, 2024. 

       Funeral Services will be held at St. Louis Church of Christ, St. Louis, MI at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, with Dr. Keith Wise officiating. Interment will take place at Oak Grove Cemetery, St. Louis, MI. Visitation will be held on Monday, July 1, 2024 from 6-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes St. Louis, MI and held on Tuesday from 10 A.M. until the time of the service at the church. 

      Leona was born in St. Louis, MI on August 9, 1922, the daughter of Lester and Bessie (McJilton) Bailor. She was a graduate of St. Louis High School. On March 14, 1942, Leona married Lowell B. Quidort in St. Louis, MI. They were married fifty-seven years prior to his death on August 31, 1999. 

      Leona enjoyed making quilts, bowling and she was a 4-H leader for many years. She worked alongside her husband, Lowell, for many years on the farm and in their family business, Quidort Sales and Service. She was a longtime member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the MSU Extension Services. Leona had a love of music and at one time played in an orchestra, where she met Lowell. She was a lifetime active member of the St. Louis Church of Christ. Gardening and taking care of her plants was a favorite pastime. Her heart was filled by welcoming new generations of babies into her ever-growing family. 

      She is survived by her daughter Karen and Melvin Kanine of St. Louis, MI; daughter Donna Kieselbach of Montrose, MI; son Darryl and Dawn Quidort of St. Louis, MI; daughter Dawn and William Bugher of Morristown, TN; 11 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 20 great-great-grandchildren; sister Helen Gortney of East Sparta, OH. Leona was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lowell, and her siblings Arlene Cole and Merle Bailor.
