Leona Mae Drummond, age 90, of Ashley, Michigan died Wednesday, April 7, 2010 Ashley Care Center.
Funeral Services will be held at East Washington United Brethren Church, 8051 S. Crapo Road, Ashley, Michigan, 48806. on Saturday, April 10, 2010 at 11:00 A.M., Pastor Lee Palmer will officiate. Burial will take place at North Star Cemetery, North Star, Michigan. Visitation will be held on Friday, April 9, 2010 from 2-8 P.M. at East Washington United Brethren Church, Ashley, Michigan.
Leona was born in Gratiot County, Michigan on October 27, 1919, the daughter of Virgil and Ethel (Dodge) Rhynard. On August 25, 1940 she married Eddie Drummond in Lansing, Michigan. Eddie died November 1, 1990. She was a homemaker, and resided all of her life in the rural Ashley area. Leona loved to do any type of crafts, quilting, and collecting novelties. In her younger years she enjoyed farming and was active on the family farm. Leona played piano and organ at her church and sang in a ladies trio known as the "singing grandmothers" in the community. She was a member of East Washington United Brethren Church.
Survivors include her 2 sons; Jerry and Margie Drummond of Ashley, Michigan, Owen and Jeanne Drummond of Ashley, Michigan, grandchildren; Penny and Sam Bearden, Jim and Angela Drummond, Brian and Lanette Drummond, Shari and Dave Wilhite, 10 great grandchildren, brother in law Paul Drummond, and step sister in law, Ruth Butler. She was predeceased by her parents, husband, and 2 sisters; Wilma & Queena
