Leo Carl Coston, 85, of Alma, MI, passed away peacefully Tuesday, September 29, 2020, at his home with his son at his side.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Louis, MI on Thursday, October 1, 2020 at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Michael Podeszwa officiating.  Visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 12:00 P.M. Burial will follow at Emerson Township Cemetery, Gratiot County, MI.

Leo was born in Breckenridge, MI on October 25, 1934, the son of George and Leona (Solomon) Coston. He graduated from St. Louis High School with the class of 1953.  On July 9, 1954, Leo married Lois Marie Sarber at First United Methodist Church in St. Louis. They celebrated 66 years of marriage this summer.

Leo lived his entire life within one mile of his birthplace at his parents' home. He was a life-long farmer in Emerson Township. He was a good-looking, kind hearted, hard working man. Leo loved his community, always willing to help a neighbor in need, and was respected by all who knew him, especially his friends at the coffee shop. Leo loved his family more than anything else and was a Dad and Grandpa his family could look up to.

Leo is survived by his wife Lois, 3 children: Richard (Faith) Coston of Breckenridge, Sheri Franks of Mason, and Shawn (Kevin) Harless of St. Johns. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.  Leo was preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter Karla Ann Coston, 2 sisters: Beatrice Acton Fisher and Helen Morris; and brothers-in-law: James Royal Acton, and Arthur Fisher.

Memorials may be made to the T.A. Cutler Memorial Library (312 Michigan Ave. St. Louis, MI 48880) or St. Louis VFW Post #3055 (1295 W. Monroe Rd., St. Louis, MI 48880).
