Lena Hannah (Barrett) Trowbridge

     Lena H. Trowbridge, age 95, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 2, 2023, at The Pearl of Rolling Meadows, in IL, with her family by her side.

     Lena was born in Parkersburg, West Virginia, on April 24, 1928, the daughter of the late Robert and Bernice (Knopp) Barrett.  She worked in the office at her father’s business and also at Kresge’s Department Store while living in Parkersburg. 

      She married George W. Nicholson, in 1950, and had two children in this union.  In 1960, she married Clarence Trowbridge, Jr. and moved to Ovid, MI, with her two children.  During this union she would have two more children to add to her growing family.  Lena remained in Ovid for many years raising her family.  She was an active member of the United Church of Ovid and the Women’s fellowship group.  Lena was a people loving person and never met a stranger.  She deeply loved her family and her extended family.  Her love was unconditional and never wavered.  She had a joy for life and was a faithful servant to her Lord Jesus.

     She is survived by her sister Pat Zickefoose of Parkersburg, WV; her children: Verl (Jack) Hudson of Traverse City, MI; George (Sherry) Nicholson of Ovid, MI; Kevin Trowbridge of Bath, MI; and Beverly (Duane) Funk of Palatine, IL; Allen (Joan) Adair of Elsie, MI;  her grandchildren: Joshua (Christina) Hudson, Ellie (Dave) Waeltz, Andrea (Jim) Gallie, Zachary (Jaclyn) Nicholson, Jovonnah Nicholson, Izzy Trowbridge, Lauren Trowbridge, Jake Trowbridge, Nicholas Miles, Allison (Carl) Griffin, Scott (Kathy) Adair, and Tammy (Tim) Chapko; her great-grandchildren: Cooper Price-Nicholson, John and Joseph Hudson, Max and Brayden Nicholson, Reyna Griffin, Rainey Waeltz, Andrew, Adrianna, and Nicholas Chapko.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Clarence Trowbridge, her first husband George W. Nicholson, and her beloved siblings: Betty, Robert, Marian, Inez, Blanche, and Barbara.

     As per her wishes she will be cremated and laid to rest in Middlebury Township Cemetery, Ovid, Michigan.  A Memorial Service will be held at the United Church of Ovid, 131 West Front Street, Ovid, MI 48866, on Friday, August 25, 2023, at 4:00 P.M.
