Lela Griffus

Lela B. Griffus age 86, of Owosso, Michigan passed away Tuesday, October 14, 2003. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and lived a wonderful life.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 18, 2003 at 11:00 A.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Corunna Chapel. Rev. Michael Peterlin will officiate with burial at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Owosso, Michigan. Visitation will be Thursday 5-8 P.M. and Friday 2-8 P.M.
Lela was born on May 28, 1917 in Brant, Michigan, the daughter of Fred C. and Lucy J. (Crane) Wright. She graduated from Chesaning High School. She was married to the late Lyle A. Griffus in December 1936 in Angola, Indiana. He passed away on February 24, 1961. She was Co-owner of Lyle Griffus Plumbing & Heating, and clerk for Shiawassee County Clerks office, also administrative assistant at the Shiawassee County Road Commission. She was a Girl & Boy Scout leader, a member of Silver Cross Circle, a member of Paul Arn Business Women, and member of Kerr Travel Club. She resided in Owosso for 62 years.
She is survived by a daughter, Connie (John) Austin of Corunna, MI, son, Kenneth (Laura) Griffus of Waterford, MI, daughter, Linda (Charles) Keenan of Owosso, MI, son, Neil (Jo Ann) Griffus of Flushing, MI, 6 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, husband, and sister, Ina Bradford.
Memorials may be made to Silver Cross Scholarship Fund. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, Corunna Chapel.
