Larry Jay Shiffer

    Larry Jay Shiffer, age 80, of St. Louis, MI, passed away peacefully Friday, March 4, 2022, at Covenant Healthcare Center, Saginaw, MI, with his family by his side.

     A Memorial Service will be held at Restoration 58:12 Church, 1001 West Washington Street, St. Louis, MI, on Friday, March 11, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Jake Gregory officiating.  Burial will take place at Pritchard Cemetery, Elwell, MI at a later date.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service beginning at 10:00 A.M.   

     Larry was born in Alma, Michigan on December 4, 1941, the son of Claude and Marian (Kunkel) Shiffer.  He graduated from Alma High School with the class of 1962.  On February 27, 1971, Larry married Judy Ann Duffett in Midland, MI.  They were blessed with 51 years of marriage.

      Larry was an avid hunter and fisherman.  He was a faithful fan of the Detroit Lions, Tigers, Red Wings, and Michigan State University.  Larry and Judy have camped at Round Lake for the last 34 years.  He enjoyed doing woodworking and making crafts.  He loved his John Deere and playing Santa for his grandkids. Most of all, Larry loved his family and spending time with them.

     Larry is survived by wife Judy of St. Louis, MI; and four children: April Moffett of Rockford, MI; Vicki (Tim) Sansote of Mt. Pleasant, MI; Paul (Crystal) Shiffer of White River Junction, VT; and Cindy (Ross) Shiffer of St. Louis, MI; 9 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and a great-great grandchild on the way. He is also survived by one sister Cheryl (Tom) Heinzman; one brother David (Debbie) Shiffer; many nieces and nephews, and special friends Mike and Cheryl Leight. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Julie Shiffer, grandson Steven Wright, and one sister Rebecca Shiffer.
