Larry Wallace Hanley, age 75, of St. Louis, MI, passed away Thursday, October 16, 2025.
Per Larry’s request, cremation has taken place, and a private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Larry was born in Alma, Michigan on July 30, 1950, the son of Wallace Carl and Arlene Erma (Palmer) Hanley. He graduated from Alma High School, and then he went on to earn an Associate’s Degree from Montcalm Community College. After earning his degree, Larry worked as a Chemical Operator for Dow Chemical for over 35 years where he loved carpooling with his work buddies. He married Cathy Goodsell, on March 20, 1971, in St. Louis, MI, and spent fifty-four wonderful years together.
Larry loved to bike, golf, play air guitar while listening to rock n' roll, and spend time at Coldwater Lake fishing. Most of all, he loved spending time with his grandkids, always cheering them on in whatever extracurricular activity they were doing. His family has fond memories of him "trying" to kayak at the family camp and driving around the county roads.
He is survived by his wife Cathy; his children: Laurie (Michael) Hale, Christie (Joseph) Wilson, Amy Denman, and Jeffrey Hanley (Lisa LaBerge); his grandchildren: Sarah (Jarad) Clapp, Addyson Hale, Brooklyn Hale, Logan (Adrienne) Wilson, Zachary Wilson, Ethan Wilson, Kerregan Wilson, Braden Hanley, Patrick Hanley, and Sophia Denman; and his great-grandchildren: BayLeigh Clapp, Oakley Clapp, and Miles Hanley. He is also survived by his siblings: Timothy Hanley, JoAnn (Joe) Dickman, and Sharon Bendele. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, and sister-in-law Marleen Hanley.
