Katie Schafer

Katie Lynn Schafer, age 30, of Fowler, MI, passed away Saturday, January 16, 2021.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Fowler, MI, on Friday, January 22, 2021 at 10:30 A.M., with Rev. Fr. Dennis Howard officiating.  Burial will take place at Most Holy Trinity Cemetery, Fowler, MI. Visitation will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes- Goerge Chapel, Fowler, MI on Thursday, January 21, 2021 from 2-8 P.M. with the family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. A Rosary will be prayed at 7:30 P.M. at the funeral home on Thursday.

Katie was born in Lansing, MI on June 19, 1990, the daughter of Dean G. and Cindy S. (Pline) Schafer. She graduated from Fowler High School with the class of 2009.

Katie had a smile that lit up the room and a laugh that was contagious.  She brightened everyone’s day with her big personality and her acts of kindness to those around her.  Katie made friends everywhere she went and always encouraged people to see the good in others.  She will be missed by so many.

She is survived by her parents: Dean and Julie Schafer of Fowler, MI, Cindy and Wayne Karns of Ionia, MI, siblings: Nicole Schafer of Grand Rapids, MI, Holly Schafer of Grand Rapids, MI, Cody Schafer of Fowler, MI, step siblings: Stef and Scott Turner of Williamston MI, Lee and Rebecca Wieber of Fowler, MI, Lauren and Troy Feldpausch of Williamston, MI, Camie and Collin Miller of Eagle, MI, Macy and Mitch Mott of Alma, MI, Erin Karns of Lansing, MI, Ryan and Kelsey Karns of DeWitt, MI, grandmother Ellen Pline of Westphalia, MI, mema Helen Pung of Fowler, MI, and step grandparents Walter and Sharon Karns of Harrison, MI. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by grandparents Delbert and Agnes Schafer, her grandfather Louis Pline, and step-grandfather Roy Pung.
