Katherine Mary Bachan

     Katherine Mary Bachan, age 86, of St. Louis, MI, passed away Monday, January 26, 2026, at Edgewood Assisted Living Center, Saginaw, MI.
     Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes St. Louis, MI, at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, January 31, 2026. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 11:00 A.M. until the time of the service at the funeral. Burial will take place at Oak Grove Cemetery, St. Louis, MI.
     Katherine was born in Alma, Michigan, the youngest of 6 children, on January 15, 1940, the daughter of Dan Smith and Mary Ann (Nemetz) Hall. Katherine graduated from St. Louis High School. She married Robert James Bachan in August of 1962.
     Katherine and Robert enjoyed traveling together, mushroom hunting, snowmobiling, riding quads, and spending time outdoors. They had a cottage on Budd Lake in Harrison where they enjoyed pontoon rides. Most of all she loved spending time with family, especially their grandchildren. She will be remembered as the historian of her "Hall" family and planned yearly reunions. She was a long time member of CSA.
     She is survived by husband Robert Bachan, children: Linda (Clifford) Kilbourne, Carmen Mercado, Mark Mercado, Vicki (Bill) Kirby and Suzanne (Mark) Moreno. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
     She was preceded in death by her son Michael Mercado and grandson RJ Anderson.
