Karen Ann (Hawley) Lewis

      Karen Ann Lewis, age 72, of Elsie, MI, passed away Monday, August 29, 2022, at The Maples Assisted Living of St. Johns, MI.

     A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Cyril's Catholic Church, Bannister, MI, on Thursday, September 1, 2022 at 1:00 P.M., with Rev. Fr. Kevin Maksym presiding.  Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery, Elsie, MI.  Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 31, 2022 from 2-8 P.M. with the family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M.

     Karen was born in Owosso, Michigan on July 19, 1950, the daughter of Luther and Dorothy (Byrnes) Hawley.  She graduated from Ovid-Elsie High School with the class of 1968, where she was crowned the first homecoming queen in the school's history.  She married Michael W. "Mike" Lewis on November 23, 1968 in Laingsburg, Michigan.  They were blessed with 52 years of marriage, prior to his passing on July 1, 2021.

     Karen was a homemaker all of her life and her world revolved around spending time with family and friends.  Her grandchildren held a special place in her heart.  She prayed daily and would light her prayer candle while thinking of others in their time of need.  Karen had a big heart and no one was a stranger to her.

     She is survived by her children: Leann Lewis of Breckenridge, MI;

Ryan and Johnnie Lewis of Elsie, MI; three grandchildren: Colby Putnam and fiancee Amber Ridgeway, Madalyn Putnam and special friend Aric Timm, and Rylee Lewis; and great-granddaughter Emery Timm.  She is also survived by her siblings: Linda and Jerry Reha of Owosso, MI; Michael and Jean Hawley of Pensacola, FL; twin sister Kay and Randy Tupper of Laingsburg, MI; Kathy Bleich of Hastings, MI; and also many nieces and nephews and her special pet Daisy.  She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Mike.

     Karen's family would like to thank her second family at The Maples Assisted Living for their excellent care and friendship.
