Karen Kutchie

Karen Mary Kutchie, age 79, of DeWitt , MI , passed away Monday, November 15, 2021 , at Ashley Care Center , Ashley , MI .

A Memorial Service will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes - Osgood Chapel, St. Johns , MI , at 1:00 P.M. on Sunday, November 21, 2021 , with Pastor Mona Kindel officiating.  Visitation will be held on Sunday from 12:00 P.M. until the time of the service.

Karen was born in Portland , MI on July 29, 1942 , the daughter of Lester and Lillian Fox.  Karen graduated from St. Patrick's Catholic School , Portland , MI , with the class of 1960.  She married John Kutchie in 1975 and he preceded her in death.  Karen retired from General Motors after many years. She enjoyed traveling, crafts, playing cards and her dogs. Spending time with family was very important to her.    She enjoyed making jewelry, refinishing furniture, and flower gardening.

She is survived by her daughter Beth Wong of Fremont, CA; son  Craig and Michelle Spitzley of Ashley, MI; grandchildren:  Kaitlin Wong of Fremont, CA, Jared and Rachel Spitzley of Ashley, MI, Tyler Spitzley of Ashley, MI, Chelsea Spitzley of Ashley, MI, Brendon  Spitzley of Ashley, MI; and one great-granddaughter Waverly Spitzley; sisters:  Janice Fox of Olympia, WA; and Pat and Joe Vela of Wacousta, MI; Mary and Tom Lawrence of Portland, MI, and sisters-in-law: Mary  Fox of Portland, MI, and Diane Fox of Portland, MI.  She is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband John Paul Kutchie, son Clair Spitzley, son-in-law Michael Wong, and brothers: Ray and James Fox.
