Karen Sue Huss, age 80, of St. Louis, MI, passed away Friday, October 2, 2026, at Maple View Retirement Community, Ithaca, MI.
Funeral Services will be held at St. Louis Church of Christ, St. Louis, MI, at 12:00 P.M. on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, with Pastor Jut Daron and Dr. Keith Wise officiating. Burial will take place at Ridgelawn Cemetery, Breckenridge, MI. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, beginning at 11:00 A.M. until the time of the service at the church.
Karen was born in Alma, MI on September 12, 1946, the daughter of Clayton and Mary (Terwilliger) Clark. She was a graduate of St. Louis High School.
Karen grew up on a farm and walked to country school; she remained a farm girl her whole life. Karen worked as an office administrator with St. Louis Public Schools for over 30 years. She loved to go thrifting and going to yard sales. Karen gave freely of her time volunteering with Dreamworks and with her church, St. Louis Church of Christ. She loved attending to her beautiful flower gardens and will be remembered for the wonderful meals she prepared. Spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren was her greatest joy. Karen was a caregiver and spent a lot of time caring for family members.
She is survived by her husband Jeff Huss of St. Louis, MI; son Darren and Alesha Thayer of St. Louis, MI; daughter Kimberly Sandel of St. Louis, MI; grandchildren: Teagan and Casey Bollig of Wallace, MI; Keeley and Alex DeBack of Traverse City, MI; Kennedy Thayer of Dallas, TX; Cologio and Mia Alighire of Tampa, FL; Lillie and Lexie Thayer of St. Louis, MI; Linzy and Augustine Garcia of St. Louis, MI; Clayton Clark of Saginaw, MI; great-grandchildren; Evelyn & Harrison, James & June, Xzavior, Ella, Marcello, Romero, and Amara; sister Patricia Church of St. Louis, MI. Karen was preceded in death by her parents, her Uncle Denny, and her grandson Duncan Clark.
Memorials may be made to Maple View Retirement Community for the Rich & Helen Hospice Suite. Online condolences can be sent to www.smithfamilyfuneralhomes.com. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Louis, Michigan.
