Julius Paul Remenar Jr., age 77, of Bannister, MI, moved on to eternal life, Friday, June 12, 2020, at Henry Ford Detroit Hospital, Detroit, MI.

He was a very devoted Roman Catholic, member of the First Catholic Slovak Union, Knights of Columbus, Extraordinary Minister of the Holy Eucharist and a member of St. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in Bannister.

Every morning after breakfast, he read about a life of a saint.  Julius was very proud of his Slovak heritage and listened to Slovak music every Saturday morning.  He graduated from Elsie High School with the class of 1960.  He served in the United States Army Reserves and was made a staff sergeant.  Julius was employed by a couple of shops and retired (after 18 years) as an Ovid-Elsie bus driver.  Julius' true calling was his farming life and was proud of his hard work.  He was a kind, generous and loving husband, dad, grandfather, uncle, brother, and brother in law.

Julius was born in Elsie, MI on November 17, 1942, the son of Julius John and Ann (Vojvodich) Remenar.  On August 25, 1973, Julius married Margaret Militello in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bay City, MI.

He is survived by his wife Margaret Remenar of Bannister, son Paul of Bannister, son Peter (Rachel DeSantis) Remenar of Ovid, daughter Annmarie (Brian) Zalud of Grass Lake, grandchildren: Daniel, Paige, Grace, Henry, George, Carmen, Reagan and Ryan, sisters: Agnes (Malcolm) Smith of Bannister, Annie Mikulka of Bannister, Rosemary  (Bruce) Thelen of St. Johns, brothers: Frank Remenar of Hartland, David Remenar, of Bannister, sisters and brothers- in-law: Mary (Dan) Shauger, Teresa (Bob) Wyma, Trudy (Lee) Avilla, Fred Militello, Dominic (Cari) Militello, Joseph (Melissa) Militello, Jeanmarie Militello Hagan, Rosemarie (James) Spencer, and Felix (Donna) Militello.  He was preceded in death by his parents Julius and Ann Remenar, father and mother-in-law Felix and Marguerite Militello, brother-in-law James F. Militello, and sister in-law-Jane Remenar.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Cyril's Catholic Church, Bannister, MI, on Tuesday, June 16, 2020 at 12:00 P.M., with Rev. Fr. Edwin Dwyer and Rev. Fr. J. Marcel Portelli officiating.  Burial will take place at Ford Cemetery, Gratiot County, MI.   Visitation will be held on Monday, June 15, 2020 from 3:00-8:00 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes Elsie, MI. A Rosary will be prayed at 6:30 P.M. Monday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be sent to Blessed Solanus Soup Kitchen, 1820 Mt.
