Joy Lee Wood

On December 16th, 2017, Joy Lee Wood was surrounded by her loved ones when her Lord and Savior called her home.

“Grandma Joy” was preceded in death by her husband and love of her life, Gary Lee Wood, whom she married on March 13, 1965; her brothers, John Colosky, Jay Colosky, and Bob Colosky; her sister, Nancy Zimmerman; and her parents, Idress and Earl Colosky.

Joy is survived by her daughter, Catherine (Richard) Hayes; her granddaughters, Amberlea (Kevin) Zimmerman, Teri (Benjamin) Kreider, and Tiffany (Jose) Martinez; her grandson, Richard (Mary) Hayes II; and nieces, Karen Whitaker and Christina Eaton.  She was known as “Nanny” to seven

great-grandchildren, Lincoln (7), Amelia (5), Gary (4), Charlotte (3), Shiloh (2), Enoch (2), and Ezra (2).

Joy loved her family fiercely, and always carried baby socks in her purse because she was concerned the children's feet were cold.  She will be missed, but fondly remembered by her family.

Funeral services for Joy will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 19, at the Barden Funeral Home in Ithaca, with Pastor Ben Kreider officiating.  Interment will follow at Ithaca Cemetery.  There will be a luncheon at His Place in Alma.  Visitation will be 4-6 p.m. Monday, December 18, at Barden Funeral Home in Ithaca.
