Joseph Allan Hodack, Sr.

       Joseph Allan "Joe" Hodack, Sr., age 80, of Elsie, MI, passed away Friday, March 29, 2024, at Pleasant View Senior Living, Corunna, MI. 

        A Memorial Service will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Elsie, MI, at 3:00 P.M. on Saturday, April 6, 2024. Visitation will be held from 1:00 P.M. until the time of the service at the funeral home. 

       Joe was born in Flint, Michigan on December 10, 1943, the son of Joseph and Essie Arlene (Wagner) Hodack. He graduated from Gaines High School.

       Joe retired from General Motors in 1995. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, an all-around outdoorsman. Joe took many hunting trips with his sons, fishing with his family and he enjoyed mounting deer antlers for other people. He liked duck hunting, attending estate sales and flea markets with his best friend Eldon "Mort" Builte. Joe looked forward to morning coffee with his friends in Ovid. 

      He was a member of the Marion Springs Conservation Club where he helped organize many events including: fish frys, wild game dinners, archery shoots, skeet shoots, Easter egg hunts and he also served as treasurer for many years. Joe proudly served his country in the United States Navy and thought highly of all veterans. 

      He is survived by his children: Tami (John) Schaar, Joe (Rain) Hodack, Jamie Hodack and Ritchie Wagner, and Jody Hodack; grandchildren: Allison (Dalton) Sweet, Eric (Amanda) Schaar, Kristen (Kyle) Carrow, Samantha (Adam) Guy, Angelica Fox, Brianna Hodack, Ricky (Holly) Fox, William Lantz, Caitlin (Andrew) Bryant, Travis (Brittany) Kersjes, and Jocelynn Holton-Pugh; 21 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandsons. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Albert Walmsley.
