John Julius Moravik

    John Julius Moravik, age 72, of Ithaca, MI, passed away Tuesday, January 2, 2024, at Michigan Medicine, Ann Arbor, MI.

    Memorial Service at Smith Family Funeral Homes Ithaca, MI, at 3:00 P.M. on Friday, January 12, 2024, with Pastor Mona Kindel  officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday from 2:00 P.M. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Burial will take place at a later date at Hamilton Township Cemetery, Gratiot County, MI. 

    John was born in Ypsilanti, MI on June 10, 1951, the son of Julius and Maxine Moravik.  He graduated from Edmore Schools and went on to obtain his certification in welding from Montcalm Community College.

    John was employed with Wright Tree Service in Lansing. John was an avid reader, liked gardening, flowers, airplanes, and trains. He looked forward to attending the Old Gas Tractor Show with family for many years and attending musical concerts with his son John Moravik II. Above all he loved being with his family and his dogs, Missy and Winnie. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy. 

   He is survived by his life partner Alma Martin, his mother Maxine Moravik, daughters:  Jodie, Juliet, Jennifer, and Jessica, siblings: Vicky Dyer, David Moravik, Lorrie Bell, Tim Moravik, and Kim Hartman. He is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.   He was preceded in death by his father Julius Moravik, son John Moravik II, and one sister.
