John Henry

John J. Henry, age 75 of St. Louis, Michigan passed away Monday, December 22, 2003 at Schnepp Health Care Center in St. Louis. He retired in 1991 from Lobdell Corporation after 28 years of service.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 24, 2003 at 1:00 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Louis Chapel. Pastor Ed Kreh will officiate with burial at Chapel Gardens Cemetery, Gratiot County, Michigan. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4-8 P.M. and Wednesday at 11:00 A.M. until the time of the service.
John was born on November 30, 1928 in Gratiot County, Michigan, the son of John B. and Nellie Kay (Williams) Henry. He attended Carson City School. On December 31, 1947 he married Ruth E. (Hevel) Henry in Carson City, Michigan. She died on February 14, 2002. He loved to deer hunt, enjoyed doing crafts, socializing, telling jokes and pulling pranks. In the past, he liked to garden with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed playing Santa Claus for his grandchildren. He was a member of the UAW Local 67 and resided in St. Louis since 1956.
He is survived by 3 daughters, Frances & Gary Case of St. Louis, MI, Jean & Elmer Otto of Riverdale, MI, Carol & Robert Vogel of St. Louis, MI, 1 son, Richard & Vicki Henry of St. Louis, MI, 11 grandchildren, Jon Case, Gary & Anita Case, Mark & Barb Hill, Jim Otto & Christie Guernsey, Darren & Valerie Thompson, Mike & Helen Davis, Paul & Tammy Brown, Jennica Hardy & Carl Cornwell, Mandy Heiden, John Henry & Cally Beech, 10 great-grandchildren, Morgan Hoffman, Ryan Thompson, Bridgett, Brooke, Blair & Garit Case, Tyler Davis, Michael Heiden, Mikayla Brown, Isaak Cornwell, 1 brother, Kenneth Henry of Carson City, MI, 2 sisters, Anne Grimwood of Nashville, MI, and Irene & Marvin Haines of Smyrna, MI. He was predeceased by his parents, wife, grandson, Richard Case, 4 brothers, and 2 sisters.
Memorials may be made to Schnepps Health Care Activity Fund. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Louis Chapel.
