Joan Marie Howes

     Joan Marie Howes, age 88, of Ashley, MI, passed away on Sunday, May 10, 2026, at Rosewood Adult Foster Care Home, Ithaca, MI.
     A Graveside Service will be held at North Star Cemetery, on Friday, May 15, 2026, at 1:00 P.M. Visitation will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Ithaca, MI, on Friday from 11:00 A.M-1:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
     Joan was born in Detroit, MI, on October 7, 1937, the daughter of Charles and Marjorie (Norris) Denniston. She married Buddy Studt in 1956, and he passed away in 1976. In 1978, she married Roger Howes, and he passed away in 2017. Joan was a homemaker and caretaker for many people in her family over the years. She enjoyed baking, decorating, and had worked for Ashley Public Schools. She is survived by her children: Debbie Galloway of St. Johns, MI; Robert and Jodi Studt of Ashley, MI; Tammy Kimmel of Ashley, MI; Buddy and Liz Howes of St. Johns, MI; and Charlie and Amy Howes of St. Johns, MI. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, five sisters, and three brothers. She was preceded in death by her parents, both of her husbands: Buddy Studt, and Roger Howes, and her sister Becky Lyons.
