Jesse Livingston

August 23, 1976 — May 28, 2024

St. Johns

Jesse "Hammer" Livingston, age 47, of St. Johns, MI passed away on Tuesday, May 28, 2024.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, June 21, 2024, from 4-10 P.M. at the St. Johns VFW Hall.  Food and beverages will be provided.

He was born on Monday, August 23, 1976, in St. Johns, MI the son of Gerald and Wanda (Kolenbrander) Livingston.   Jesse graduated from St. Johns High School with the Class of 1995. His High School friends have many fun memories.   He was voted as Class Clown.   Jesse had sixteen years with his former employer, Sav-A-Lot Warehouse.  He loved the outdoors and just being outdoors. His dogs, Jake and Sadie held a special place in his heart.  Jesse thoroughly enjoyed fishing, hunting, and playing golf.  Knowing Jesse, you knew he had to be always doing something.

When fishing he had a special touch, he would be pulling in walleye or landing the steelhead when no one else was catching.  He was proud of that too.  Some of his favorite fishing spots was the Rouge River at his grandparent's home, Tippy Dam, Saginaw Bay, or at the shack on the Tahquamenon River.  But his favorite was fishing Bass Tournaments with his son, Jace.  Jesse felt the greatest job he ever had was being a father to his son, Jace.  Jesse taught Jace his passion for the outdoors.   They spent many hours together in the woods or at the Tippy Dam or Sixth Street Dam in Grand Rapids, doing what they loved to do best, hunt and fish.  These are the memories that will be cherished the most. As Jace got older he began to have the knack, Jesse wasn't too happy when his son out fished him.   But of course that was due to Jesse teaching him everything he knew.

He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.  Jesse is survived by the sunshine of his life, his son Jace; brothers:  Jason & Linda, and John & Joanne; nephews and nieces:  Jennifer, Julie, Jamison, Taylor also his special nephew and best friend Jacob & Lisa; great-nephew Julian; Jace's mother Casey; Jace's grandmother who filled a void for Jesse when his mother passed away at an early age, Linda & Ray Enright.  Jesse was preceded in death by his grandparents John and Mary Jane Kolenbrander also his parents, Gerald and Wanda Livingston.  Jesse lost his mother his senior year of school unexpectedly that took something from Jesse and he never recovered from it.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Jesse's honor may be made to Jace to help with any expenses.  Online condolences can be sent to www.smithfamilyfuneralhomes.com. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes - Osgood Chapel, St. Johns, Michigan.
