Janis I. (Franks) Green

     Janis I. Green, age 76, of Riverdale, MI, passed away peacefully Friday, October 28, 2022, at MyMichigan Medical Center- Alma, MI, with her family by her side.

     Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Louis, MI, on Monday, October 31, 2022, at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Carl Cecil officiating.  Burial will take place at Oak Grove Cemetery, St. Louis, MI.  Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 31, 2022, from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M.at the funeral home.

     Janis was born in Alma, Michigan on May 28, 1946, the daughter of Harold and Myrtle (VanDemark) Franks.  She lived in the Gratiot County area all her life.  On June 19, 1976, Janis married John Green at her mother's house in Riverdale, Michigan.  They were blessed with thirty-one years of marriage prior to his passing on January 26, 2008.

     Janis liked to read, play solitaire, and gossip on the phone. She enjoyed going on car rides and trips up north. She loved her family, especially the grandchildren.  She always attended her grandchildren's activities - she was their greatest cheerleader.  She dedicated many years to caring for others through home care.   

     She is survived by two daughters: Sue (Rob) Najar and Rhonda Best; six grandchildren: Alex (Allison) Best, Tiffiny (Ryan) McGill, Amber (Zach) Weigold, Dana Best, Steven Najar, and Robert Najar Jr.;  eight great- grandchildren: Boston Davis, Graci Gepford, Madixx Weigold, Kamryn Kiss, Grizzly Gepford, Oakley Weigold, Shae Kiss, and one more on the way; step-children: Colleen Coppens and Jennifer Ricks; step- grandchildren: Rachael, Robbie, Dalton, Justin, Jared, and Jaci; brother Dennis Franks, sister-in-law Tina Franks, and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband John Green, one sister Joyce Sebring, and three brothers: Robert (Beth) Franks, Richard Franks, and Gary (Nancy) Franks; and sister-in-law Sandy Franks.
