Janice Elaine Roy

     Janice Elaine Roy, 82, of Ovid, MI, passed away Sunday, December 28, 2025, at University of Michigan Health-Sparrow-Clinton, St. Johns, MI.
     Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes – Houghton Chapel, Ovid, MI, on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at 11:00 A.M. Burial will take place at Middlebury Township Cemetery, Middlebury Twp., MI. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 2, 2026, from 2-8 P.M. with the family present from 2-4 P.M. & 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.
     Janice was born in Laingsburg, MI, on September 8, 1943, the daughter of Paul H. and Alice Jean (Bolton) Schray. She graduated from Laingsburg High School, with the class of 1962. She would go on to raise four wonderful children. After they all graduated, she would spend 15 years working for Walmart until she retired. On October 6, 1962, Janice married Norman Wayne Roy at the Laingsburg United Methodist Church. They were blessed with nearly 31 years of marriage prior to his passing on September 23, 1993.
     In her spare time, Janice loved crafting, whether it’d be quilting, sewing, knitting, or crocheting. She also loved listening to old-time Christian, and could often be seen on the dance floor with Norman at wedding receptions and polkas.
      She is survived by her children: Valarie (Bonnie) Patrick, of Ovid, MI; Tom (Kim) Roy of Lake, MI; and Chris (Eddie) Stewart of Ovid, MI. She is also survived by her siblings: Kenneth Schray, Julie Bush, and Paulette (Jacob) Fowler; her grandchildren: BreAnna, Brittany, Bobbi, Jordan, Max, Randee, and JD; her great-grandchildren: Colt, Paislie, Emarsyn, Wren, Walker, Graham, Vinnie, Samara, Xavier, Wyatt, and Weston; and many nieces, nephews, and in-laws. Janice was preceded in death by her parents; husband Norman; son Scott Roy; son-in-law Rich Micka; sister-in-law Phyllis Schray; infant brother Tom Schray; and her brother Dale Schray.
