Janice Louise Nicewander

Janice Louise Nicewander, age 82 of Ithaca, passed away June 25, 2019 at Woodland Hospice House in Mt. Pleasant.

Janice grew up in Forest Hill and attended the Brady Country School. She graduated from Alma High School with the Class of 1954. Janice worked for many years at Wolverine World Wide in Ithaca.

Janice loved children. She also enjoyed driving and taking road trips, knitting, gardening, reading, genealogy, visiting at the Ithaca Senior Activity Building, and attending the productions of the Gratiot County Players.

Janice will be most remembered for her extensive work as a volunteer. She volunteered for many years in different capacities with the Gratiot Historical Society, the Girl Scouts, the Commission on Aging, as a foster grandparent at Ithaca South Elementary, and at the Ithaca Church of God.

Janice is survived by her children Ken Welch (Pam), Craig Welch (Peggy), Lisa Nicewander, Wendy Paradise (Trevor); grandchildren Angie, Tiffany, Michael, April, Jasmine, Randy, Hailey, Bethany, David; great grandchildren Alyssa, Alaina, Vada, Elliot; brothers Roger Raycraft, Alvin Raycraft, Marc Raycraft; close family friend Chris Lombard; and many extended family members.

Memorial services for Janice will be 3pm Sunday, June 30, 2019 at the Ithaca Church of God with Jim Goodspeed officiating. A dinner will immediately follow the memorial service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family to help with Janice’s final expenses.
