Janice L. Langan, age 83 of Ithaca, went to be with her Lord on August 13, 2016 at Spectrum Blodgett Hospital in Grand Rapids.
Janice was born April 25, 1933 to Louis and Helen (Fossage) Jirschele in Marshfield, Wisconsin. She married Jack L. Langan on August 23, 1952 in Muskegon, Michigan.
Janice was a stay at home mom who also held a variety of occupations though out her life, ending with her retirement as Food Service Manager at the Gratiot County Jail in the early 1990’s.
Janice enjoyed crafting, sewing, puzzle books, camping, traveling, yard sales, flea markets, her cabin on the lake, sunsets, and most of all spending time with her family. She was a member of the VFW Auxillary and Peace Lutheran Church in Alma. She loved all of her pets and had many collections. Her heart was very big and she always desired and found a way to give to others.
Janice is survived by her husband of 64 years, Jack; her children Michael (Terry) Langan of Chippewa Lake, MI, Patricia (Ronald) Jones of St. Louis, Deborah Richards of Orleans, MI, Mark Langan of Lansing, Robin (Christopher) Carter of Big Rapids, Thomas (Julie) Hamp of DeWitt; grandchildren, Jennifer (Michael) Hummel of Fremont, Jacob (Dawn) Langan of Assonet, MA, Jonathan (Sarah) Langan of Trafalgar, IN, Brandon Jones of St. Louis, Amanda (Patrick) Joseph of Orlando, FL, Jeremiah Richards of Largo, FL, Joshua (RaeLee) Richards of Shelbyville, IN, Susan (Mark) Thompson of Sheridan, Matthew Carter of Traverse City, Nicholas Carter of Negaunee, Kyle Carter of Big Rapids, Kelsey Southwick of DeWitt, Nathan Everest of DeWitt, Evan Hamp of DeWitt, Derek Hamp of DeWitt; great grandchildren, Hunter Hannah, Taylor (Timothy) Knoll, Danae Langan, Devin Hummel, Alissa Langan, Aubrey Hummel, Calvin Langan, Maxwell Langan, Miles Langan, Ryan Richards, Noah Richards, Trenton Richards, Henry Richards, Trevor Thompson, Chase Thompson, Kaiden Thompson; great great grandchildren, Bentley Langan, Kolten Langan, and Jayce Langan.
She is preceded in death by her parents Louis and Helen; brothers Enos (Charlotte) and Jay (Mildred); granddaughter Jacey Elizabeth Langan; and two great grandchildren.
Funeral services for Janice will be 11am Thursday, August 18, 2016 at Peace Lutheran Church in Alma. Pastor Thomas Messer will officiate and burial will follow at Ithaca Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-4pm and 6-8pm Wednesday, August 17, at the Barden Funeral Home in Ithaca as well as from 10am until the time of service Thursday at Peace Lutheran Church. Memorial Contributions may be made to Peace Lutheran Church or the Gratiot Commission on Aging.
