Janet Marie Oxendale, age 85, of St. Louis, MI, peacefully passed away Monday, March 6, 2023, at her home.
Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Louis, MI, at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, March 11, 2023, with Pastor Lee Rhodes officiating. Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery, Alma, MI. Visitation will be held 5-8 P.M. on Friday, March 10, 2023 and again for one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
Janet was born in Alma, Michigan on September 22, 1937, the daughter of Orville Lynn and Agnes Marie (Keschman) Conley. She graduated from St. Louis High School with the class of 1955 and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Education from Central Michigan University. On January 28, 1961, Janet married Duane Kirt Oxendale at the Alma United Methodist Church. They have been blessed with sixty-two years of marriage.
Janet was a teacher at Elwell Elementary School for a few years before dedicating herself to being a farm wife, homemaker and raising her children. She loved to travel and go for rides in the country, they enjoyed many family vacations with their children. She lived for spoiling her grandchildren. She and Duane took their grandchildren on many different trips as well. Janet had a heart of gold and her beautiful smile will be missed by all who loved her.
She is survived by her husband Duane, son Trenton Oxendale of St. Louis, MI; daughter Kelly (Mike) Glover of St. Louis, MI; and daughter-in-law Amy Oxendale of St. Louis, MI. She is also survived by eight grandchildren: Anne (Brian) Eikenhout, Jennifer (Kevin) Barnes, Janelle (David Dwyer) Glover, Trent (Kristy Oliver) Oxendale, Cameron (Jasmine) Glover, Tara Glover, Tony Glover, and Lisa Glover; nine great- grandchildren: Brinley, Declan, Feona, Calix, Aria, Aspen, Amersyn, Aaliyah, and Evelyn; sister Phyllis Hull, and many nieces and nephews. She preceded in death by her parents, and father and mother-in-law Ray and Agnes Oxendale.
The family would like to thank the Brady family for their faithful help in caring for Janet for the last several years. She loved them as much as they loved her.
