Janet Ethelda (Mepham) Wagner

Janet Ethelda (Mepham) Wagner of Ithaca passed away March 31, 2019 with her family by her side.

Janet was born April 8, 1938 to Elton "Friday" and Reta Mepham. She married Lee James Wagner on January 24, 1959. Janet was a homemaker and enjoyed keeping a beautiful home and caring for her family. She spent many hours canning and freezing hundreds of quarts of produce from their large garden each year. She enjoyed crocheting, cross-stitching and hand quilting beautiful blankets. She rarely kept these items for herself and instead gave them to family and friends as gifts. Janet was an excellent cook and especially enjoyed baking dozens of cookies to give to family and friends and for the funeral dinners at St. Paul's Catholic Church. In her later years, Janet lovingly fostered many stray cats and kittens, including her special companions "Callie" and "Gracie".

Janet is survived by her children, Lori (Pat) Lamey of Ithaca, Lisa (Jeff) Peters of Ithaca, Joanne (Kristin) Wagner-Curnow of Marshall, and David Wagner of Ithaca, brother Robert Mepham of Ithaca, and sister-in-law Mary Lou Hill of Alma, 10 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Janet was preceded in death by her husband Lee, father and mother, brother Gail Mepham, sisters/brothers-in-law Marilyn Mepham, Doris Mepham, Donald and Alice Grigar, Carlyle Hill, and William and Shirley Kopulos.

There will be a funeral Mass 10am on Tuesday, April 9, 2019 at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Ithaca with internment at Ithaca Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Woodland Hospice of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan or the Gratiot County Commission on Aging.
