James Anthony Norris of Ithaca, MI, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on February 12, 2019 at the age of 88, with his family by his side.

He was born on February 15, 1930 in Mount Savage, Maryland, the son of William and Josephine Norris.  He served in the U.S. Army, and served as a corpsman in the U.S. Navy, and the United States Marine Corp during the Korean Conflict.  He was a member of the Rock Ministry Church in Ithaca, a member of the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion in Ithaca. He retired from Oldsmobile in Lansing in 1991 after 25 1/2 years of service and was a member of the UAW Local 652.  He loved spending time with his family, and was an avid football fan of the Ithaca Yellow Jackets High School Varsity Team for several years.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Veronica; daughter, Deborah McDaid and Dewey Stafford of Maryland; daughter and son-in-law, Pastors Deanna and Steve Zuker of Ithaca; daughter, Denise Reese and Daryl Cooper of Ithaca; 8 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren and one on the way; brother, Regis and Jane Norris of Ithaca; sisters, Mary Fabbri, Betty Schaffer, and Pauline Ritchey (all of Maryland).  He is also survived by many sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews, and special friends, Jerry Rummer and Ray and Norma Welch, and many other special friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents; son, David Norris in 2015; and brothers, William, Francis and Vincent Norris.  He was deeply loved by his family and his legacy will continue on

A memorial service will be held for Jim Norris at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 1, 2019, at the Ithaca United Methodist Church.  Military honors will be presented at the Ithaca Cemetery immediately following.

Following the committal service, there will be a  luncheon at St. Paul’s Catholic Church Hall in Ithaca.  Everyone is welcome.
