James Dale Cornwall

     James Dale "Jimmy" Cornwall, age 61, of Grand Ledge, MI, passed away Monday, April 7, 2025, at Hospice House of Shiawassee County, Owosso, MI ,surrounded by his family.
     A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
     James was born in Denver, Colorado on September 30, 1963, the son of Amos Dale and Marie Christine (Blake) Cornwall.
     Jimmy was a wonderful grandfather and family meant the world to him. He truly looked forward to family get-togethers. Jimmy was an avid University of Michigan fan, Detroit Lions Football fan, and Georgia Bulldogs Football fan. He faithfully served his country in the U.S. Army serving in the Special Forces and Green Beret with top secret clearance, he also was basic airborne. Jimmy was very proud of the time he served and loved to talk about it. He and Jean Ann would spend hours playing Mafia Wars on Facebook. Jimmy and his family had a tradition of gifting one another a fruitcake for Christmas. He was a man of great knowledge and accomplished many amazing things. Jimmy has the gift to talk with everyone. Jimmy's family will always remember how important he made them feel and they were blessed to have him in their lives.
     He is survived by his significant other Jean Ann Zuwala of Grand Ledge, MI; daughter Nicole and Tony Merrifield of St. Johns, MI; grandchildren: Anthony, Benjamin, and Madison Merrifield; daughter Amber Becker of Grand Ledge, MI; mother Marie Bohanan of Pensacola, FL; sister Teresa and Andrew Higgs of Florida; son Alex and Ali Smith of Marietta, GA. Jimmy was preceded in death by his father Amos Cornwall, his granddaughter Olivia Merrifield, Jean Ann's parents Judy Finkbeiner and Dave Finkbeiner; and also her brother Jeff Parsons.
