Jack Albert Weatherby, age 88, of St. Louis, MI, passed away Wednesday, June 28, 2023, at MyMichigan Medical Center, Midland, MI.
Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Louis, MI, on Monday, July 3, 2023, 12:00 P.M., with his grandson Pastor Bob Fall officiating. Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery, Alma, MI. Visitation will be held from 11:00 A.M. until the time of service at the funeral home.
Jack was born in Alma, Michigan on February 5, 1935, the fourth child of Albert Cordon and Theo (Crispin) Weatherby. He attended Republic School and graduated from Alma High School with the class of 1954. On January 31, 1955 Jack joined the U.S. Air Force along with another nine men from Alma. While home on leave in August of 1958, he met Pat Ellis. On June 26, 1959, they were married at the East Minster Presbyterian Church. They were blessed with sixty-four years of marriage. Jack and Pat had three daughters: Teresa, Melinda, and Colleen. His girls and their families meant the world to Jack.
Jack was a hard worker all of his life and started work when he was fifteen. He had several jobs prior to enlisting in the U.S. Air Force. After being discharged, Jack went to work at Detroiter Mobile Homes. He then attended Ferris Institute studying refrigeration, air conditioning and heating. He then was hired by Leonard Refinery/Total Refinery and worked there until his retirement.
Jack was a gifted woodworker and loved to work with his hands. He spent many hours working on projects with the grandchildren. He played the guitar and organ and sang.
He is survived by his wife Patricia, two daughters Teresa (Jim) Derry of Alma, MI; and Melinda (Bob) Fall of Alma, MI; son-in-law Roger Flicek of TX. He is also survived by eight grandchildren: Jody (Roman) Smith, Brian (Emily) Derry, Jillian Fall, Bob (Meg) Fall, Brandi (Dan) Leyrer, Colinda (Kyle) Kohler, Cassandra (Kenny) Vargas, and Travis (Ashley) Flicek; many great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, mother and father-in-law Allan and Gertrude Olson, daughter Colleen Flicek, two sisters: Bonna (Carl) Michael, and Nola (Jerry) Tripp, infant brother Cordon, his sister-in-law Carol Crowley, and his brother-in-law Gary Brantley.
