Jack Lee Laverty

     Jack Lee Laverty, age 71, of Elsie, MI, passed away Sunday, August 31, 2025, at University of Michigan Health-Sparrow, Lansing, MI.
     Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Elsie, MI, at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, September 8, 2025. Visitation will be held on Monday, September 8, 2025, from 12:00 P.M. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
     Jack was born in Owosso, Michigan on October 11, 1953, the son of Jack and Leeda (McCarick) Laverty. He graduated from Owosso High School. Jack married Joyce Freeman on February 3, 1973. She passed away December 6, 2021. Jack worked for General Motors for several years and later worked as a heavy equipment operator. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and drinking a beer with friends. Above all he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be remembered for his willingness to help others.
     He is survived by his daughter Jacqueline Laverty and Roger Stevens of Chapin, MI; his son Jerry Laverty and Jeff Eickholt of Florida; his grandchildren: Jessica Kenter-Billings of Chesaning, MI; Lexi Sanchez of Elsie, MI; Leeda Hagaman of Kentucky; and Gregory and Baylie Sanchez of Elsie, MI; and great-grandchildren Cameron, Ava, Jonathan, Grace, Arya, Justin Jr., and Madelyn. He is also survived by his brother Michael Laverty of Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Joyce, daughter Jodie, great-granddaughter Isabella, and sister Mary Smith.
