Jack Anderson Cornwell, age 94, of rural Ithaca passed away Tuesday, September 29th, 2020 in the comfort of his home.
Jack was born August 12th, 1926 in the Ithaca Hospital, the son of Clarence and Bessie (Baker) Cornwell. He graduated from Ithaca High School in 1945 and resided all of his life in the Ithaca area. Jack married Joanne Kay Pittman on October 27th, 1975 and they spent the last 35+ winters in Davenport, Florida where he walked a mile a day year-round, and enjoyed many cruises and travels.
Jack was a truck driver all his life. He had five trucks of his own, leasing to Liquid Transport until his retirement at 75. He also drove truck for Monroe’s
Jack is survived by his wife of 46 years Joanne Cornwell; sisters Ellen Burns and Nancy (Larry) Sensabaugh; sister-in-law Esther Cornwell; son Rolland (Butch) Cornwell (Judy Jolly); step children Deb (Riley) Putnam, Doug Myers (Caryn Lasagna), Pam Petery (Doug Kinkead); and many grand children and great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his first wife Ruth Ann Marten; sister Anna Stell, brother Gene Cornwell; grandsons Steven Mitchell Cornwell, Jeremy David Cornwell, and Travis Myers; and great grandson Marshall Jared Morse.
Visitation for Jack will be 2-4pm and 6-8pm Friday, October 2, 2020 at the Barden Funeral Home in Ithaca. Graveside services will be held at 12 Noon on Saturday October 3, 2020 at the North Star Cemetery.
