Ivan Sperry

Ivan Raymond Sperry, age 74, of Dewitt, MI, passed away Friday, April 9, 2021, at his home surrounded by his family.

Funeral Services will be held at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 8990 Church Rd., St. Johns, on Wednesday, April 14, 2021, at 1:00 P.M., with Rev. Timothy Bayer officiating. Burial will take place at South Bingham Township Cemetery, St. Johns. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 13, 2021 from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.

Ivan was born in St. Johns, Michigan on October 18, 1946, the son of Raymond and Norena (Rossow) Sperry. He graduated from Rodney B. Wilson High School with the class of 1965. Following graduation, Ivan proudly served his country in the U.S. Army for 3 years. He retired from General Motors after over 35 years of service.

On December 18, 1994, Ivan married Brenda Joyce Smith Hale in Ovid, MI. They were blessed with 26 years of marriage. He was a life long member of St. Peter Lutheran Church.

Ivan cherished time with his family. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren play ball. He and Brenda played pool together. He played and coached softball for many years and was a member of the Sperry Family Softball Team. Ivan also liked to spend time at his cabin on Higgins Lake.

Ivan is survived by wife Brenda, 5 children: Jamie White, Jody Sperry, Deloris Hale, Jason (Alicia) Sperry and Jaymie Cardenas; 13 grandchildren and many great grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings: Duane (Doris) Sperry, Marvin (Sandy) Sperry, Linda (Joe) Taylor, and Wayne (Kim) Sperry; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
