Irene Pauline Kunik

Irene P. Kunik, age 93, of Ithaca, died Sunday, December 30, 2012, at Rosewood AFC.

Irene was born in Ashley on October 21, 1919, the daughter of Steve and Catherine (Dudash) Plesko.  She married William Kunik on November 30, 1941, in Bannister.  He preceded her in death in 1971.

Her family was her priority in life.  She enjoyed taking care of the kids, cooking, polka dancing, bowling, and working.  Through the years she owned a bar in Elwell, worked at Detroiter Mobile Home , and drove school bus for Alma Public Schools for 12 years.

Irene is survived by her children, Nancy Fitzgerald of Ithaca, and William M. (Gloria) Kunik of Annapolis, MD; three grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; her brothers, Steve (Ann) Plesko of Ashley, Ed (Blanche) Plesko of Ashley, Milan (Beverly) Plesko of Rainbow Lake, John (Deborah) Plesko of Florida, and Stanley (Mary Lou) Plesko of Ashley.  She was preceded in death by her son, James Michael Kunik; her grandson, Shannon Fitzgerald; her brothers, Mike Plesko and Tony Plesko; and her sister, Helen Mason.

The family is being served by the Barden Funeral Home in Ithaca.
