Herbert Gerald "Cookie" Cook, 83, of Ithaca, passed away on Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at Rosewood AFC with his family at his side.

Cookie was born February 4th, 1929 in Gratiot County, the son of Willard and Orpha (Easlick) Cook.  He was a graduate of Fulton High School.  He met and married the love of his life, Deloris (DeeDee) Lacross on March 25th, 1950.  He worked for New Moon Trailers, Blair Trailer Sales and after an accident, he went into business for himself, working in heating and cooling.  His business name was Cookies Repair Service.

Through his own business, he met a lot of people.  He loved people and doing things for them.  He enjoyed going up to his cabin in Harrison on the weekends.  His son Lynn and Lynn's wife, Cheryl, and numerous friends, built him and DeeDee a new cabin.  It was their heaven on earth.

He is survived by his wife, Deloris, one daughter Becky, one son Joe, daughter-in-law Cheryl (Wyeth) Cook, 3 grandson's Nathan Cook of Colorado, Ryan Cook of Alabama, and Blake Cook who is in the United States Army, stationed in Fort Polk, Louisiana, one brother Robert (Logie) Cook of Mt.Pleasant and one sister Betty (Cook) Lane of Ithaca.

Cookie is preceded in death by his son Lynn Cook, his parents, his brothers Ervin and Keith Cook, and one sister Bonnie (Cook) Harkness.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, March 24, at the Barden Funeral Home in Ithaca, with Pastor Reid Martin officiating.  Interment will be in Chapel Gardens Cemetey in Elwell.  Visitation will be 6-8 Thursday and 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Cook family.
