Gregory Scott Baxter, age 58, of St. Louis, MI, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, May 18, 2026, at his home.
A Celebration of his life will be held at Resurrection Life Church, St. Louis, MI at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, with Pastor Rick Lopez officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service at the church.
Greg was born in Alma, Michigan on April 17, 1968, the son of Charles L. and Beverley J. (Dilno) Baxter. He graduated from St. Louis High School with the class of 1986. Greg married his childhood sweetheart, Jennifer Smith on October 7, 1995, in St. Louis, MI. He was an accomplished machinist and began this career at a young age by taking his siblings bikes apart. He had a 48-year career as a machinist, working alongside his dad. Greg was a partner/manager with Double B's Steel and Manufacturing in Wheeler.
He enjoyed gardening, camping, walking on the trails, cutting wood and spending time outdoors. Greg grew a bountiful garden every year and shared his produce with family and friends. He loved his dogs, his family and time spent with his grandchildren. Greg was a provider who will be remembered for his honesty, hard work, willingness to give of himself and faith in Jesus.
He is survived by wife Jennifer Baxter of St. Louis, MI; his children: Jake and Vanessa Baxter of Alma, MI; and Joni and Christopher Graham of St. Louis, MI; parents Charles and Beverley Baxter of St. Louis, MI; siblings: Michael and Karin Baxter of St. Louis, MI; Michelle Sumner of Alma, MI; Gina and Frank Fairbanks of Hudsonville, MI; and Nicole Baxter of St. Louis, MI; father and mother-in-law Richard and Nancy Smith of St. Louis, MI; and brother-in-law Richard and Shavonne Smith of Greenville, MI. He is also survived by grandchildren who were the loves of his life: Brock Baxter, Clara Baxter, Cora Graham, Isabelle Graham, Trinity Graham, and Elijah Graham, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by grandparents: Arthur and Anita Baxter and Ed and Iretha Dilno.
