Glenn Kinkead, age 82, died Thursday, November 9, 2017 with his family at his side, at Ashley Care Center.

Glenn was born August 28, 1935 to Ernest Glenn and Garnet (Smith) Kinkead in Marietta, Ohio. He was a graduate of Ithaca High School. He married Arlene Robbennolt in Temple Michigan, on January 25, 1958.  She preceded him in death on March 23, 2017 after 59 years of marriage.

He joined the US Navy when he was 17 to help provide for his mother and siblings. He was a mine assembler in Navy during the Korean conflict. He was assigned to the USS Lake Champlain. He would tell stories of his travels to Italy, Rio De Janeiro, and Spain. He received an honorable discharge. He also received the National Defense Service Medal along with the Good Conduct Metal for his service.  After returning home, he worked on the railroad and Wolverine shoe factory. He retired from Federal Mogal in St. Johns. He loved history and watching the history channel. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He controlled the woodchuck population for local farmers. He could always tell you how many he killed (1063). He was a great husband, dad, grandfather, and uncle.

Glenn is survived by his daughters, Coleen Ritenburgh of Alma, Loretta (Doug) Schneider of Ashley, son in law Rod (Ellen) Mills of Sumner, son in law Mike Ritenburgh, and Deb of Texas; his grandchildren, Amanda (Tee) Huot of Spring Texas, Andrew Mills of Alma, Kelseigh (Dan) DiTrapini of Alma, Jessi Abbott of Holland, Kaileigh (Zack) Moffit of Ithaca, Jenny Abbott of Holland, Becky Schneider of Carson City, and Hunter Schneider of Ashley; his great- gandson (next month), Jaxin Glenn Moffett; his brothers, Doug Kinkead of Ithaca and Larry Kinkead of Ithaca; his sister,Betty (Winston) Miller of Louisville Georgia; and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Arlene; his son, John Glenn; his parents; his great-grandson, Zack Huot; his sisters, Rose and Chris; and his brothers, Sam, Edd, and Dave.

In his giving way, he has donated his body to the University of Michigan medicalschool. A memorial dinner will be held at the Ashley Community Center on February 24, 2017 from 1-4.  Please bring your memories.

The family would like to thank the Ashley Care Center and Great Lakes Hospice for the care they gave him. Thank you to all the CNAs and nurses that took care of him.
