Gerald Sidney “Jerry” Johnson, age 77, of Ithaca, died Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at his home in Ithaca, with his family at his side.

Jerry was born October 31, 1940, in Bellflower, California, the son of Virgil and Gladys (Ritter) Johnson.  He married Phyllis Ann Malish on July 26, 1979 in Greenville.  He served his country in the US Navy and worked for Electrolux in Greenville for over 37 years.

Jerry was a jokester who was loved by everyone.  He enjoyed collecting Triumph motorcycles and at one time had 12.  He was a bass player and had played locally with both country and rock bands.  He was a passionate sportsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting and being outdoors.  Above  everything, he loved his wife Phyllis, and was always bringing home presents and surprises for her. His son, Terry, was his pride and joy.  He attended church at the Ithaca Church of God for the last 13 years where he served as an usher.  Every morning he would go the the Ithaca Senior Center where he would have coffee with everyone.

Jerry is survived by his wife of 39 years, Phyllis; his children, Terrance Neil (Barbara Horonzy) of Belding, Cheri Roberts of Texas, Jeannie (John) Gnotek of Milford, Diane (Russell) Lake of Stanton, and Nancy Blackledge (John Dawson) of Port Huron;  17 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; his brother, Warren (Roberta) Johnson of Colorado Springs, CO; his sister, Eva Bailey of Boise, ID; several nieces and nephews; and a lot of special friends..

Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, September 1, 2018, at the Ithaca Church of God, with Pastor Tom Whitesel officiating.  Visitation will be from 10 until the time of the service.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Ithaca Church of God or to the Ithaca Senior Activity Building,  Condolences may be left for the family online at www.bardenfuneralhome.com.
