Gavin Thurlow

Gavin Preston James Thurlow, age 19, of Alma , MI , passed away Thursday, August 19, 2021 , at Mid-Michigan Medical Center , Alma .

A Memorial Gathering will take place on Saturday, August 28, 2021 at 4:00 P.M. at Woodland Park, 530 West Center Street, Ithaca, MI.

Gavin was born in Alma , MI on August 3, 2002 , the son of William Emil Hedin and Michelle Marie Thurlow.

Gavin was very artistic and enjoyed drawing and painting. He was interested in botany and welding. He was a member of a poetry reading group and chess club. He volunteered in the gardens at the Wilcox Center , serving breakfast at school and helping teachers. He cared deeply about others and their needs. He loved to be generous and often gave gifts to friends and family.

Gavin was a collector of nut crackers, and classic country music. He liked to write his own music and was his own favorite rap artist. He enjoyed unique and unusual things. "WHOOP WHOOP!"

Gavin is survived by his mother Michelle (Tom Glennie) Thurlow,  grandfather Kirk Thurlow, sisters: Cora (Brenton Wright) Thurlow, Ashlyn (Dalton Howe) Thurlow, Christa Williams, and Shalee Bell; brothers: Kelvin Hedin, Trentin Norris, Thomas Glennie, and Damon Glennie; aunts and uncles: Mary Thurlow, Mindi Thurlow, and Mark (Nicole) Thurlow; nephews: Charlie, Dominic, Matthew, Junior, Elijah; nieces: Maci, Katie Lyn, and Maya; cousins: Emma, Kaylie, Fynnley, Ryder, Olivia, and Andryanna; other extended family members, father William Hedin, and fur-baby Joker. Gavin was preceded in death by his grandmothers: Tammie Burge and Patricia Hedin; uncle Mark Hedin, Great Grandma and Grandpa Thurlow, cousin Matteo and fur-sibling Franky.
