Gary Raymond Leonard, age 88 of St. Louis, MI, passed away Sunday, December 8, 2024, at his home.
Funeral Services will be held at the First Baptist Church, St. Louis, MI, at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, December 13, 2024, with Pastor Derreck Jewell and Pastor Phil Maxwell officiating. Burial will take place at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Coe Township, MI. Visitation will be held Friday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service at the church.
Gary was born in Coe Township, Michigan on September 16, 1936, the son of Norman Jay and Mildred (Barnhart) Leonard.
Gary proudly served his country in the United States Airforce from 1954-1958. On May 25, 1957, he married Carol Cawrse at the First Baptist Church in St. Louis. After his honorable discharge, he went to work at Total Petroleum in Alma for 35 years retiring in 1993. Gary was a handyman & craftsman and he used those skills to serve people. He enjoyed attending car shows and showing his antique Chevys. He was passionate about his family and proud of his grandchildren. Gary was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church and a lifelong resident of St. Louis.
He is survived by his wife Carol Leonard of St. Louis, MI; daughter Lisa Leonard of St. Louis, MI; son Brian and Mary Lou Leonard of Rockford, MI; daughter-in-law Kim Leonard of Alma, MI; grandchildren: Rachel and Sam Redman, Jennifer and Matt Johnson, Danylle and Gary Mavis, and Brianna and Jack Leonard; and great-grandchildren: Reid and Caroline Redman. He is also survived by his sister Carol and John Grossa of Mt. Pleasant, MI; his brother Donald and Janet Leonard of St. Louis, MI; his sister-in-law Sondra Gianettino of Grand Ledge, MI, many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents Norman Jay and Mildred Leonard, his son Daniel Reed Leonard and brother-in-law Robert Gianettino.
