Gary D. Eyer

     Gary D. Eyer, age 79, of Ashley, MI, passed away Saturday, May 2, 2026, at his home surrounded by his family.
     A Memorial Service will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Ithaca, MI, at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, May 8, 2026, with Pastor Doug Strait officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday from 11:00 A.M. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Chapel Garden Cemetery, Seville Twp., MI at a later date.
     Gary was born in St. Johns, Michigan on August 18, 1946, the son of R.B. Eyer and Betty L. (Johnson) Eyer. Gary graduated from Fulton High School. He married Kathleen Marie "Kathy" DeWitt, on July 3, 1966, at East Superior Christian Church in Alma, MI. They were blessed with fifty-six years of marriage; prior to her passing on January 28, 2023. Gary was especially proud of his trade as an iron worker.
     Gary was an avid outdoorsman, who especially enjoyed white tail deer hunting. He also liked mushrooming, fishing and playing cards. Above all, he loved time spent with his family at "the barn".
     He is survived by his children: Angie and Jeff Schollaert of Ithaca, MI; Kimberly and Mike Tissue of Middleton, MI; and Matthew Eyer of Ashley, MI; one grandson Ryan and Mariah Schollaert of Alma, MI; 3 great-grandchildren: Ollivia, Camden, and Emma Jean Schollaert and his brother Rodney Eyer. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Kathy, brother Danny Lee Eyer (Connie Lynn) and sister Susan Musser.
