Gary A. Allen, Sr.

Gary A. Allen, Sr., age 70, passed away December 25, 2015 at his home.

Gary was born February 23, 1945 to Arlo A. and Evelyn E. (Beard) Allen in St. Johns, Michigan. He worked for Dow Chemical as a crane rigger.  Gary loved to be outdoors. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, playing softball in a league, and loved to grill. He also enjoyed helping people at the Just-In-Time Campground.

Gary is survived by his children, Chris (Heather) Allen of St. Louis, Lori Allen of Big Rapids, Jay (Bonnie) Allen of Mesick, Gary A. Allen (Sheila Keck) of Ithaca, Ryan (Callie) Allen of Ludington; grandchildren, Nick Allen, Maddyson Allen, Jacob Allen, Hannah Allen, Gracie Allen, Leah Allen, and Jay Allen Jr. He was preceded in death by his parents Arlo and Evelyn, and granddaughter Haley Allen.

Funeral services for Gary will be 11am Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at the Barden Funeral Home in Ithaca. Pastor Phil Maxwell will officiate and burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-4pm and 6-8pm Tuesday, December 29 at the funeral home. Per Gary’s wishes for no flowers to be sent in his honor, memorial contributions may be made to Gratiot County Parks and Recreation.
