Frances Allen

Frances Allen, age 94, of Ithaca, died Thursday, March 11, 2010 at Carson City Hospital. Frances was born March 3, 1916 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She married Duane H. Allen January 22, 1938. He preceded her in death in April of 1992. Frances loved her family. She enjoyed gardening, playing cards, baking, and cooking. She was also known for her witty sense of humor. In her earlier years she loved to travel the pipeline with her husband, making many friends along the way. She was also an avid Detroit Tigers and University of Michigan fan. Frances is survived by her children, Jack (Darlene) Allen of Sumner, Jerry (Evelyn) Allen of Sumner, Judy (Dennis) Stark of Midland; six grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; sisters, Kate Augustynisky of Lansing, Martha Brabon of Lansing, Wanda Bogart of Trout Lake; and brother Andrew Kalinowski of Avon Lake, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her husband Duane, great grandson Brett Terwilliger, sister Barbara Minarik, and brother Edward Kalinowski. Funeral services for Frances will be 11am Monday, March 15, 2010 at the Barden Funeral Home in Ithaca. Pastor Dale Wolfe will officiate and burial will follow at Salt River Cemetery in Shepherd. Visitation will be 4-8pm Sunday, March 14 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or to a charity of your choice.
